About
At New Big Wave Communications, we contend that well-crafted narrative storytelling has an incredible power to cut through all the noise and inspire people to do amazing things—pick up the phone to call their elected official, send a donation, talk with a friend about a cause that excites them, or even build momentum on groundbreaking legislation.
We have experience running campaigns across all areas of conservation: habitat protection, wildlife conservation, land protection, legislation, policy, and more. Our specialty is quickly putting strategies into place that engage your audience, generate support, change minds when necessary, and get results.
New Big Wave Communications was founded in 2024 by Garrison Frost, who has more than 25 years of experience developing communications strategies for a variety of institutions–academic, nonprofit, government, and media. Most recently, his work has focused on conservation and the environment, contributing to numerous victories for habitat protection, endangered species, and land conservation. Just a few examples:
Led communications strategy for landmark Assembly Bill 711 in 2013, which banned the use of lead ammunition for hunting in California.
Drove massive public education and comment campaigns to fight off industry petitions to remove Coastal California Gnatcatcher and Least Bell’s Vireo from Endangered Species Act Protection.
Created Bird LA Day, a unique partnership of dozens of organizations in Southern California that engaged many thousands of enthusiasts to celebrate the region’s birds and nature.
Led creative content team that generated engagement and donations for major acquisitions of giant sequoia and coast redwood forests.
Garrison is particularly adept at helping organizations build and engage their audiences, as well as crafting multi-faceted campaigns that combine public engagement with advocacy, earned media, and fundraising.
